Graphomania is a group exhibition consisting of many artists from across the U.S. and abroad, opening the first of July at Garbageman/Astronaut Project Space in Portland, OR. The artists have been invited to participate through a friends-of-friends network. The curators, Michael Welsh and Daniel J. Glendening, invited artists to participate in the exhibition, and invited those artists to invite others, and on down the chain. Participants are including a drawing of some sort, be it a finished work, a study or sketch, doodle, research notes and plans, or drawing as defined in any other way. As the group of participating artists grows through a friends-of-friends network, the hope is to introduce each other and audiences to a broader community of artists, aesthetically dissolve geographical and generational boundaries, and build new connections.
This blog is to serve as one manifestation of these connections.
