Kelly Sturhahn grew up in southwest Florida, and moved to New York shortly after completing her studies at Ringling School of Art and Design. She received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Hunter College in New York, and has continued to pursue her art at her studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Her process orientated approach spans both two and three dimensions, combining technological and handmade media. Working simultaneously with textiles, digital photography, drawing and painting, her work defies categories, instead weaving together new forms and new possibilities. Exploring her long-standing interests in light, nature, pattern and decoration, theater and illusion, Sturhahn transforms the technological realm into the experiential, creating tactile, magical worlds.

Sturhahn has exhibited frequently in New York and the surrounding area, with highlights including solo projects at Ann Street Gallery, Saratoga Arts Center and Times Square Gallery, and group shows at Hudson Guild, Skylight Gallery and Jack the Pelican Presents. She has also participated in Scope Art Fair in New York and Grendel Miami during Art Basel. In addition, Sturhahn has extensive experience in both teaching and arts administration. She has given lectures about her work at several galleries, was an Artist-in-Residence at Salem Art Works, received a travel grant from Hunter College, and recently became a grant recipient for a residency at the Vermont Studio Center. She looks forward to attending this summer.
